Lulling waters, powdery white sands, and swaying palm trees are a few reasons the region has earned its reputation as the spot for serenity.

The Caribbean is known for many things, including impeccable weather and music, superb cuisine, and warm, friendly people. It goes without saying, of course, that these islands are beloved for their beautiful beaches.

There are countless idyllic stretches of sand to choose from across thousands of islands, but we’ve rounded up the best Caribbean beaches so you can start planning your next island getaway with ease.

Seven Mile Beach is situated just seven miles from Owen Roberts International Airport, making it easy to reach. The beach is also close to George Town cruise port, making it a convenient stop for visitors on a Caribbean cruise. There are several ways to reach Seven Mile Beach from both the airport and George Town, and the cost will vary depending on the transportation method you choose.

If you’re looking for something to do besides basking beneath palm trees and bobbing in heaven’s seas, you’ll find there’s a little bit of something for everyone on and around Seven Mile Beach.

Maho Beach is a must-visit destination for travelers. It is primarily known for its immediate proximity to Princess Juliana International Airport’s runway.

One of Maho Beach’s main attractions is the opportunity to get up close to the spectacular landings and takeoffs of large aircraft that fly over the beach at very low altitudes.

For those who prefer a bit of comfort, sun loungers are available for rent on Maho Beach. You can also take a seat on the terrace of the nearby Sunset Grill Bar, where you can enjoy refreshments while continuing to admire the aerial display.

Pig Beach, Big Major Cay, Bahamas

Pig Beach, Big Major Cay, Bahamas

Stunning white sands and clear, aquamarine waters aren’t the only showstoppers in the Exumas. Meet Exuma’s Adorable and Famous Swimming Pigs

This is one experience you simply can’t miss while you’re here. On uninhabited Big Major Cay, a colony of pigs (and adorable piglets!) takes center stage. The beach has become a tourist attraction because who doesn’t want to take a photo swimming with pigs? You can’t stay here overnight, but many nearby islands offer excursions, including nearby Staniel Cay.

Big Major Cay is uninhabited and the pigs are not native to the island. Some say they were left by a group of sailors, who planned to come back and cook them. Or that the pigs swam over from a shipwreck nearby. Wherever they came from, there are now about 20 pigs and piglets living the easy life, with daily visits from Bahamians and tourists. When you visit, be sure to get a selfie with the swimming pigs!
